This course will provide foundational level knowledge on cloud concepts, core Azure services, and Azure management and governance features and tools.

This course is aligned with the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification.

Course Content

Module 1. Describe cloud computing
We'll define what cloud computing is, explore the shared responsibility model, look at different cloud deployment models, and understand the consumption-based pricing model. By the end of this module, learners should be able to explain these core concepts and how they compare to traditional on-premises infrastructure.

Module 2. Describe the benefits of using cloud services
Explores the key benefits that make cloud computing attractive to organizations. We'll cover high availability, scalability, reliability, predictability, security, governance, manageability, and sustainability. These benefits are closely tied to the Microsoft Azure Well-Architected Framework.

Module 3. Describe cloud service types
By the end of this module, learners should be able to describe each service type and identify appropriate use cases. The key differentiator is the level of responsibility and flexibility each model provides.

Module 4. Describe the core architectural components of Azure
After completing this module, learners will understand Azure regions, availability zones, and datacenters, along with how resources are organized through resource groups, subscriptions, and management groups.

Module 5. Describe Azure compute services
After completing this module, learners will be able to compare VMs, containers, and Functions, describe VM scale sets and availability sets, and understand application hosting and AI/ML/IoT services.

Module 6. Describe Azure networking services
After this module, learners will understand virtual networking with subnets and endpoints, VPN Gateway and ExpressRoute connectivity options, and Azure DNS capabilities.

Module 7. Describe Azure storage services
After this module, learners will be able to compare Azure storage services and tiers, describe redundancy options and account types, and identify file movement and migration tools.

Module 8. Describe Azure identity, access, and security
After this module, learners will understand directory services and authentication, Conditional Access and RBAC, and security models including Zero Trust, defense in depth, encryption, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.

Module 9. Describe cost management in Azure
After completing this module, learners will be able to describe cost factors and the Pricing calculator, use Cost Management with budgets and alerts, and choose between Reservations, savings plans, and Spot pricing.

Module 10. Describe features and tools for governance and compliance
After completing this module, learners will understand the purpose of Microsoft Purview for data governance, Azure Policy and initiatives for enforcing compliance, and resource locks and the Service Trust Portal.

Module 11. Describe features and tools for managing and deploying Azure resources
After completing this module, learners will understand the Azure portal and Cloud Shell, Azure Arc for extending Azure management to hybrid and multi-cloud environments, and ARM, ARM templates, and Bicep for infrastructure as code.

Module 12. Describe monitoring tools in Azure
After completing this module, learners will understand Azure Advisor and its five recommendation categories, Azure Service Health with its three health views, and Azure Monitor including Log Analytics, Alerts, and Application Insights.

Module 13. Guided project
This guided project set is provided to provide OPTIONS for practical activities during class. It is NOT expected that you complete all guided projects during a delivery. Given the breadth of content, the goal should be to complete 1, or maybe 2 if timing allows, of the guided projects during a delivery. The students can complete the additional guided projects using a Bring Your Own Subscription model from Microsoft Learn at any time.

Final Exam
To earn your certification from Lumo365 Academy, you must successfully pass the Final Exam at the end of the course. This exam is designed to evaluate your understanding of the key concepts, skills, and modules covered throughout the training program. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass the Final Exam. Students who do not meet this passing score will need to review the course material and retake the exam in order to qualify for certification. You are allowed a maximum of 3 retake attempts only. Upon achieving a passing score of 80% or higher, you will be awarded your official Lumo365 Academy certification, recognizing your successful completion of the program and your demonstrated competency in the subject matter.
